Details

The plungers commonly used with this type of open-top cartridges can be replaced by a universal adapter kit.  One piece holds the cartridge in place while the other connects to the solvent line inlet.  By doing so, you will have access to wider choice of cartidges (format and sorbent) and significantly reduces the amount of hardware required (plungers).

Empty Luer-Lock (with 2 frits) cartridges are designed to be used with SiliaSep cartridges for sample loading.

The use of solid-load technique (also called dry-load) will improve chromatography resolution, especially for compounds soluble only in strong solvents or in large volumes of solvents.

For silica-sample slurry, dry by evaporating the solvent for a more concentrated sample and to eliminate any solvent effect on the purification.

For a dry sample slurry, use a 1:1 ratio (1 g of silica for 1 g of dry sample) but for an oily sample prefer a 3:1 ratio (3 g of silica for 1 g of oily sample).

Details

Good alternative for normal phase purification of compounds with basic properties, which would normally have to be purified by reversed-phase.
Also a weak anion exchanger, with a pKa of 9.8. At pH 7.8 or below, the functional groups are positively charged. It facilitates the rapid release of very strong anions such as sulfonic acids that may be too strongly retained on SAX.
