谷氨酰胺合成酶（glutamine synthetase，GS）为在ATP的存在下使氨与谷氨酸结合生成谷氨酰胺的酶，是植物氮代谢过程中非常重要的关键酶之一。在植物中，主要分为2大亚类：GLN1，为胞质形式，GLN2叶绿体形式，GLN1广泛存在于植物的根瘤，花，果实中，主要参与种子萌发时储存氮源的转运及叶片衰老时氮源的转移再利用；GLN2广泛存在与叶片的叶绿体中，1个核基因编码，主要参与光呼吸以及硝酸还原产生的氨的同化过程。
